The Palace of Abstinence was the residence of the emperors when they were fasting during the worship period in the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Form

The Beamless Hall sits on a platform and faces east. It is seven bays wide and covered with a hip roof of green glazed tiles. The hall has a domed ceiling of bricks.
