The Imperial Vault of Heaven Complex was where the sacrificial tablets used in worship activities were stored during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The main building sits on a white-marble sumeru pedestal. It is a round pavilion with a tented roof of blue-glazed tiles topped with a gilded copper roof crown. The three-layered caisson in the ceiling sinks gradually toward the center. The side halls sit symmetrically on both sides of the central axis in the south of the courtyard.
