The Resting Hall was where the imperial ancestors' spirit tablets were placed during normal days. The arrangement of the tablets strictly followed the zhaomu seniority system, with Taizu, the founding emperor, in the center and the others lining up left and right intermittently. The permanent position of Taizu showed the importance of the principle of "choosing the center”.
The Resting Hall is to the north of the Sacrificial Hall with a space 9 bays wide and 4 bays deep, with a single-eave hip roof of yellow glazed tiles.
