The Gate of Divine Prowess is the north gate of the Forbidden City. The drums and bells inside the gate tower were time-keeping facilities during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The Gate of Divine Prowess stands on a tower terrace with three arch-shaped gates. Sitting on a white-marble pedestal, the gate tower is 4 bays wide and 1 bay deep, encircled with a corridor surrounded by a white-marble balustrade. With a double-eave hip roof of yellow glazed tiles, it is of a lower grade than the Meridian Gate. The plaque bearing the name of the Palace Museum written by Guo Moruo is hung on the gate tower.
